Here are some national informational and referral resources. Please carefully read the information pertaining to services, provider membership requirements, and credential requirements at each site. Each state has different requirements for professional licensure and certification in the mental health field.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Call or text 988 - A resource for people struggling with life and for those that know someone who may be talking about harming themselves. The number connects you automatically to the nearest local suicide prevention resources.
Focus on the Family
A non-profit global ministry. They maintain a list of Christian counselors that have gone through a screening process and meet their standards. You can also arrange a one-time consultation call with a licensed mental health provider.
American Psychological Association
Psychologist Locator helps you find a psychologist near you. You are able to search by various options including accepted insurance and areas of specialty.
American Association of Christian Counselors
Maintains the Christian Care Network of licensed/credentialed counselors across the country.
Stephen Ministry
One-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.
